Join YVR’s award-winning Digital Twin team and play a key role in expanding one of the most advanced 3D reality models in the aviation industry. This isn’t just a student project, you’ll be building, optimizing, and integrating real-world 3D assets that support everything from operations to planning to innovation across our entire airport campus.
Working alongside our in-house 3D technical artist and collaborating with GIS experts, you’ll bring technical artistry and spatial data together in Unity, while enhancing the accuracy and performance of a truly next-gen platform. Whether you’re passionate about games, simulations, or smart cities, this is the place to apply your skills in a real-world setting.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Model detailed, high-quality 3D assets in Autodesk Maya, replicating YVR’s physical infrastructure
- Apply realistic textures in Adobe Photoshop for large-scale environments
- Organize, configure, and optimize assets in Unity—including colliders, shaders, scripts, and materials
- Prototype and test interactive features and performance upgrades for the Digital Twin
- Support the GIS-to-3D workflow, aligning 3D models with real-world coordinates using spatial data and construction drawings
- Perform spatial data cleanup and improve GIS integration using tools like ArcGIS Pro, QGIS, or FME
- Enhance model fidelity by identifying and resolving gaps or misalignments between GIS and 3D content
What You’ll Gain
- Hands-on experience with 3D asset pipelines, Unity, and GIS systems—all in a real-world, enterprise-grade setting
- A portfolio-worthy project contributing to a high-visibility, award-winning platform used by airport operations and decision-makers
- Exposure to how digital tools drive innovation in smart infrastructure, planning, and operations
- Cross-functional collaboration with professionals in IT, GIS, engineering, and design
- Mentorship and networking inside a dynamic, future-focused organization
