Position Overview

The Vancouver Airport Authority is excited to offer a full-time co-op opportunity in the Enterprise Advanced Analytics Department for up to a 4-month term, starting May 2025. This is a great opportunity to gain hands-on experience in data science, machine learning, and advanced analytics within the aviation industry. The successful candidate will play a key role in developing, analyzing, coordinating, and implementing initiatives that align with and support the Airport Authority’s Strategic Plan. We are looking for candidates from diverse backgrounds who are passionate about making a meaningful impact through data and innovation.

• Enhance and Optimize Machine Learning Models: Improve the accuracy, efficiency, and scalability of existing ML models by refining algorithms and optimizing feature selection.
• Develop Monitoring & Alerting Systems: Implement automated monitoring processes to track model performance, detect anomalies, and trigger alerts when necessary.
• Analyze Datasets for Model Improvements: Identify data patterns, trends, and opportunities to refine ML models for better business outcomes.
• Perform Rigorous Testing, Benchmarking, and Evaluation: Conduct tests and benchmarks to evaluate the performance of models, documenting metrics and areas for enhancement.
• Evaluate Data Quality: Assess the accuracy and reliability of both existing and new data sources, ensuring integrity for model training and predictions.
• Develop & Test Data Science Pipelines: Assist in creating and validating robust data science workflows, algorithms, and analytical processes.
• Maintain Documentation: Keep detailed records of ML models, methodologies, and insights derived from data analysis.
• Collaborate with Cross-Functional Teams: Work closely with stakeholders, data engineers, and analysts to test, deploy, and monitor models in production.
• Communicate Findings & Recommendations: Present model outcomes, key insights, and improvement opportunities to both technical and non-technical audiences.

The individual will have the following:

• Strong analytical and communication skills, with the ability to present complex ideas clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• An interest in working in an exciting and fast-paced environment, where each day brings new challenges.
• A detail-oriented approach with strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word.
• Diplomacy and professionalism when interacting with others.
• A demonstrated ability to balance multiple priorities and work efficiently, both independently and as part of a team.
• A commitment to customer service and delivering excellence in all tasks.

Salary Range : $24.08/hr + Living Wage top up to $27.05/hr
